New Jersey Marathon

April 14, 2008

Dear Resident,

On May 4, 2008 the New Jersey Marathon will be running through our town.  The Monmouth Beach Police Department along with the Long Branch Police Department and Race Officials have been preparing for this event, which will include over seven thousand runners.

There will be “No Parking” on certain streets from 3:00 am Sunday morning until 2:00 pm Sunday afternoon.  This is to ensure the safety of the runners and spectators.  If you have an emergency or an unforeseen occurrence that day, we will try to assist you in any way possible.  We would also like you to know that during the beginning of the race there will be a large number of participants on the roadway which will compel us to close the roads on which the race is being run on as well as the intersecting roads.

The race will enter town at Riverdale Ave at the intersection of Columbia Avenue (Long Branch).  It will travel northerly along Riverdale Avenue to Griffin Street and turn left onto Griffin Street to Tocci Avenue and head north to Wesley Street, then west to Patten Avenue.  On Patten Avenue the race will head south back into Long Branch.

I would also like to remind those residents who live along the race route that there will be no parking allowed during the times and date previously mentioned.  We encourage residents to come out and be a spectator for this great event and cheer on all the runners.

Please feel free to contact Lt. Drew Winans or myself at 732-229-1313 with any questions or concerns you may have.

                                                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                                                Richard A. White
